Technology

Inside, the Nissan Pixo continues to share a lot with its Renault sibling. The dashboard layout, steering wheel, and digital cockpit follow the same general architecture, but Nissan adds its own technology and equipment package.

One of the more interesting features is the integration of Google services and Gemini, bringing AI-assisted functionality into the infotainment experience. Advanced driver assistance systems are also part of the technology package, giving the Pixo a more modern feel than its small dimensions might suggest.

Practicality is another major focus. The rear seats can be adjusted and folded, helping owners create extra room when carrying larger items. Nissan quotes up to 356 litres of luggage space, including a 50-litre compartment designed for charging cables. There is also additional storage space around the cabin.

The cabin also features various small design details and hidden Easter eggs intended to give the compact EV a more playful character.

Nissan Pixo EV Motor and Battery

Under the bodywork, the Pixo uses the same basic electric hardware found in the Renault Twingo E Tech electric.

A front-mounted electric motor produces 60 kW, equivalent to around 82 hp, while the 27.5 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery provides up to 259 km of WLTP range. The car uses Front Wheel Drive and is designed primarily for efficient urban and suburban travel.

Nissan is also using an LFP battery chemistry in the Pixo, with the model becoming the brand’s first European EV to use this type of battery according to current industry reporting.

Nissan Pixo EV Performance and Charging

Specification	Nissan Pixo
Electric motor	Front mounted
Power	60 kW / 82 hp
Battery	27.5 kWh LFP
Drive	Front Wheel Drive
WLTP range	Up to 259 km
DC charging	Up to 50 kW
DC charging time	15% to 80% in 28 minutes
AC charging	Up to 11 kW
Bidirectional charging	Supported

With 50 kW DC fast charging, Nissan says the battery can be replenished from 15% to 80% in 28 minutes. An 11 kW AC charger and bidirectional charging capability also add flexibility for everyday EV use.

The numbers are not aimed at performance enthusiasts, but that is not really the point of this car. The Pixo is built around easy city driving, low energy use, compact dimensions, and convenient charging.

A New Pixo With an Old Story

The return of the Pixo name is particularly interesting because the original model was also a badge-engineered city car.

Sold in Europe from 2009 to 2013, the previous Nissan Pixo was closely related to the Suzuki Alto and used a small 1.0-litre petrol engine. The new model keeps the same basic idea of being a compact, affordable urban runabout, but completely changes the formula with an electric powertrain.

This time, however, the Nissan sits within a much broader electric vehicle strategy and arrives at a moment when affordable EVs are becoming increasingly important in Europe.

Nissan Pixo vs Renault Twingo E-Tech

The relationship between the two cars is difficult to miss, particularly under the skin.

Feature	Nissan Pixo	Renault Twingo E-Tech
Power	82 hp	82 hp
Battery	27.5 kWh LFP	27.5 kWh LFP
WLTP range	259 km	Up to 263 km
DC charging	50 kW	50 kW
Drive	FWD	FWD
Production location	Novo Mesto, Slovenia	Novo Mesto, Slovenia

The biggest differences come from styling, equipment and brand identity rather than the core mechanical package. Renault quotes up to 263 km of WLTP range for its Twingo E Tech electric, while Nissan lists up to 259 km for the Pixo.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Nissan Pixo?

The Nissan Pixo is a new compact electric city car designed for European markets. It shares its technical foundation with the Renault Twingo E Tech electric and Dacia Spring.

How much range does the Nissan Pixo have?

The Nissan Pixo offers up to 259 km of WLTP range from its 27.5 kWh LFP battery.

How powerful is the Nissan Pixo EV?

The Pixo uses a 60 kW electric motor producing around 82 hp and sends power to the front wheels.

How quickly can the Nissan Pixo charge?

With 50 kW DC fast charging, Nissan quotes a 15% to 80% charging time of 28 minutes.

When will the Nissan Pixo go on sale?

Pricing and pre-order information are expected from December 2026, with customer deliveries planned for early 2027.

Final Thoughts

The Nissan Pixo brings an interesting twist to the affordable EV market. Rather than developing an entirely separate small electric car, Nissan has used an established Renault-based technical package and focused its efforts on distinctive styling, connected technology and everyday practicality.

Its compact size, 259 km WLTP range, 82 hp motor and 50 kW DC fast charging make it a city-focused EV designed around realistic daily use. The biggest unanswered question is pricing, but with the Renault Twingo E Tech already positioned below €20,000 in Europe, the Pixo appears set to target the same increasingly important affordable EV segment.

For European buyers looking for a small electric car, the Pixo adds another option to a rapidly expanding urban EV market. More details, including market-specific pricing and ordering information, should emerge toward the end of 2026.
